Airlines increase taxes & fees to hide fare hikes

In recent months, it seems the airlines continue to add more surcharges and fees rather than increase the base fare to remain competitive. This is a bad practice as it provides wrong information to passengers who are performing the search and base their decision on the base price of the tickets.

Based on our research, it seems that for the same destination taxes could be as high as 300% compared to some of the other carriers. This problem continues to escalate as airlines continue adding "Fuel Surcharges" and other fees to mislead the consumer.

On the other hand, airlines like Northwest and Delta seem to be in trouble and might be filing for bankruptcy.
